El 27 de diciembre CircusCasino.com anunció que está detrás de una campaña pública en Internet para conseguir apoyo en conseguir el reconocimiento por parte del Comité Olímpico Internacional (COI) del poker como juego olímpico oficial. El plan es que aparezca una demostración del mismo en 2012 y como evento principal en 2016.

Peter Nolan, de CircusCasino.com, señaló que el poker está "maduro para el reconocimiento olímpico." Dijo en un comunicado de prensa que: "Millones juegan cada semana, millones más ven la televisión, pero quizás más importante, tenemos algunos jugadores británicos de renombre mundial. Es fantástico pensar en quién podría representar al Equipo GB [Gran Bretaña] si el poker llega al nivel olímpico."
El equipo del que Nolan hace referencia incluye jugadores como: Jon Kalmar, Adrian Lambe, Dave Colclough, Dave Ulliott, Vicky Coren, Neil Channing, Lucy Rokach, y Mark Goodwin. Aunque aun los jugadores no han confirmado su voluntad de participar.
Si el esfuerzo de CircusCasino.com llega a los oídos del COI, la respuesta de sus representantes será interesante como mínimo.
